Real Africa Visits Hope DCC

It was really encouraging to welcome Real Africa Adventures this August. Real Africa offers its clients safaris with a difference. Not only do they take people to safari parks in Uganda to see mountain gorillas, lions, elephants, giraffes, to name a few, but they also offer the opportunity for visitors to work on community development projects. 

HDCC was particularly lucky to receive Real Africa; they got to hear about HDCC by chance. Inspired by HDCC’s work and vision they decided to send a team to Lukaya to help. 

The team of volunteers came from Arvada, Colorado, 25 of them no less!! They all attend the same church; Christ Community Covenant Church, and had prayed and raised funds for a year in advance; hoping that they would be lead to a place in Africa where they could help and make a real difference. They found Real Africa with a Google search!!!

After a typically warm Ugandan welcome, the team from the US got straight to work. In one week they together with the Lukaya Polytechnic students prepared the foundations, laid the bricks and roofed a hostel.

The hostel is for young boys who’ve been rescued from living on the streets. It will make a real difference to their lives; it will be a safe and comfortable place for them to live, where they will be cared and loved.
